A Finnish WWII passenger plane, Kaleva, was shot down by Soviet bombers in 1940 just before Moscow annexed the Baltic states, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including a US diplomat. After 84 years, an Estonian diving group has located well-preserved parts of the Finnish airline Aero-operated plane off a tiny island near Tallinn, shedding light on the mysterious case and its significance in the complex history between Finland and Moscow during World War II.
