In Hunan, China, a breach occurred in the Dongting Lake levee of Yuanjiang County on July 5th, with 129 meters of the breach sealed by the morning of the 8th, leaving 97 meters to go, and is expected to be completed by noon on the 9th. Over 4700 rescue personnel have been deployed, along with vehicles, equipment, and boats to expedite the sealing process. Water Resources Minister Li Guoying visited the site and emphasized the urgency of implementing six measures to ensure the completion of the sealing by the deadline, including optimizing the sealing plan, preemptively devising post-sealing drainage, reinforcing levees, and preparing for potential secondary disasters.
