Corroding water pipes burst in downtown and Midtown Atlanta, leading to business closures, attraction shutdowns, and disruptions in water service in area homes. City officials were slowly repressuring the water system with cases of water being distributed and portable toilets set up at various locations. Mayor Andre Dickens expressed the importance of water as a critical resource and acknowledged the slow communication updates by officials. Amid criticism, updates every two hours were promised until the situation is resolved, while a boil-water notice remained in effect for a large part of metro Atlanta.
