An investigation by the Australian Border Force (ABF) revealed that over the past year, dozens of employees at Melbourne Airport have breached security regulations, with some found to be using illegal drugs while on duty and others suspected of cooperating with criminal organizations to smuggle drugs into Australia. During searches on international flights, ABF uncovered that many aircraft crew members were concealing drugs and tobacco in their luggage, assisting in distributing illegal items upon arrival in Australia. The ABF searched over 1,300 aircraft and 500 airline employees, discovering 70 airport employees violating security rules, with some working for criminal entities and a few using drugs during work hours.
