The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) held a press conference urging the Kuomintang (KMT) and the People First Party (PFP) not to become accomplices to China's attempts to intimidate Taiwan. Recent actions by China, such as announcing new regulations to punish Taiwanese independence advocates and reports of Chinese journalists influencing Taiwanese political talk shows, have raised concerns. The DPP emphasized the importance of safeguarding Taiwan's democracy and called on all parties to stand united against Chinese threats. The DPP also criticized comments by Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu referring to China as 'teammates,' warning against downplaying China's actions against human rights and Taiwan's democracy. The DPP denounced the increasing interference by China in Taiwanese affairs and urged for cooperation among political parties in defending Taiwan's sovereignty.
