DPP Launches Anti-Abuse of Power Campaign Amid Accusations of Recall Plot

Reported about 1 year ago

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary-General Lin Yu-chang announced plans for a month-long nationwide 'anti-abuse of power, protect democracy' campaign starting on June 14, with the first event in Hualien. This initiative follows the passing of amendments to the Legislative Yuan Powers Exercise Act and the Criminal Code, with the Executive Yuan subsequently requesting a review. Despite facing criticism of having hidden recall motives, Lin emphasized that the campaign aims to deepen democracy and educate citizens on parliamentary matters, dismissing claims of ulterior motives and stressing that the DPP's intentions are not as simple as alleged.
