DPP Launches 'Anti-Abuse of Power, Defend Democracy' Campaign Nationwide, Aiming for Over 100 Events This Weekend

Reported about 1 year ago

Following the KMT and MPP's joint initiative to expand parliamentary powers, a large number of people took to the streets at the end of May to protest outside the legislature. Due to the impracticality of the law, the Executive Yuan proposed a reconsideration on the 11th. The DPP, led by Secretary-General Lin You-chang, announced the nationwide campaign 'Anti-Abuse of Power, Defend Democracy,' starting with a street event in Hualien on the 14th, directly confronting the Kuomintang caucus convener Fulon's base. In addition to central party-organized events, local party branches and councilors have begun mobilizing, with over 100 events expected before the 21st. Various DPP branches and city councilors across six cities and counties have initiated street campaigns, urging unity and democratic deepening in Taiwan.
