The second phase of the recall petition against Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang is seeing success with the support of the citizens' group 'Mountain Sea Citizen Dismantling Action,' surpassing the required threshold. DPP spokesperson Wu Zheng recently visited Keelung to speak about Xie's governance controversies and shortcomings, highlighting the increasing public dissatisfaction. The DPP is prepared to face the changing situation as more citizens and volunteers join the movement. The recall initiative was triggered after a late-night police intervention at East Coast Mall in Keelung. Wu and Keelung City Councilor Zhang Zhihao revisited the site, emphasizing the reasons behind the recall, including issues with commercial leases and declining city governance under Xie's administration.
