Dragon Boat Festival Tradition: Securing Wealth with Noontime Water at Cheng Mei Cultural Park's Centennial Ancient Well

Reported 6 months ago

As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, traditional activities such as eating rice dumplings, hanging wormwood at the door, carrying sachets, balancing eggs, and watching dragon boat races are common in Taiwan. Gathering noontime water, also known as 'pure yang water,' between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. is considered a ritual to ward off evil, purify, change luck, attract wealth, and cool down. Cheng Mei Cultural Park in Yunlin County, a historically significant site, will for the first time open its centennial ancient well to the public for noontime water collection. This park also offers cultural experiences during the festival, allowing visitors to create traditional items like incense bags and paper-cut cards, emphasizing cultural heritage preservation and enjoyment.
