On July 3, 2024, at 10:49 PM, a distracted driver of a small truck glanced at their phone and accidentally rear-ended a motorcycle rider in New Taipei City. The impact also pushed the motorcycle into a car ahead, causing the 42-year-old rider to be thrown off violently. Fortunately, the rider, surnamed Zheng, suffered injuries but was not in critical condition after receiving medical treatment. The driver, surnamed Chen, now faces fines as the police have found out that he was using his phone while driving, causing the chain reaction accident.
