A 22-year-old driver surnamed Xu in New Taipei City's Sanchong District reportedly ran a red light while driving a small truck, hitting a 37-year-old pedestrian named Xie who was crossing the road. Xie suffered a jaw fracture and head injuries from the impact but fortunately is not in life-threatening condition after receiving medical treatment. The driver claimed to have been inattentive and fatigued, causing the accident. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and responsibility of the incident.
