A man surnamed Huang in his 60s from Miaoli County drove to Shueiwei Beach in Hualien town to relax by the sea on July 2nd. However, he accidentally drove his car onto the beach and got stuck. Despite trying to get friends to help pull the car out with a cultivator, the rising tide trapped him. When attempting to retrieve items from his car despite the incoming waves, Huang was swept away. The Coast Guard was alerted but has yet to find him, with search and rescue efforts ongoing.
