In an alarming accident in Taichung City's Nantun District around 1 a.m. on June 9, a car ran a red light and crashed into a motorcyclist, resulting in the car being damaged and the bread on the motorcycle scattered on the ground. One person was flung 5 meters and critically injured, currently under observation in the intensive care unit. The driver, a 28-year-old man, violated traffic signals and caused the fatal accident, while the motorcyclist did not have any contributing factors. The driver claimed to have mistaken the red light for green, and further investigation by the traffic police is pending.
