In the early morning of June 14, 2024, a conflict erupted at a KTV in Hsinchu where four drunk guests and another man clashed. Upon police arrival, the guests hurled insults and ice at the officers, leading to the police having to subdue one person on the ground, which was misconstrued by other bystanders as police violence. Despite the chaotic scene, the police only processed the unruly guests for causing a disturbance, sparking criticism for not enforcing the law more assertively. The incident occurred around 5 am when four drunk customers and a man got into a confrontation in the lobby, causing the establishment to seek help due to the situation. The police deployed pepper spray to subdue the aggressors, while intoxicated onlookers criticized the officers, with one even threatening to complain using the officer's badge number.
