On June 14, 2024, at 9:35 AM, a heavily intoxicated man, Zheng Huie-yuan, was taken home by his family, then rode a motorcycle back to the scene carrying a bottle filled with gasoline intending to attack a police station. The man was initially subdued by police at the Taipei Metro Zhongshan Station after causing a disturbance, but returned later with a lighter and gasoline after feeling unhappy, leading to his arrest. Taiwan police reported his blood alcohol level at 0.94, well above the legal limit, and he confessed to intending to throw a gasoline bomb at the police station out of dissatisfaction.
