Dutch Government Recommends IPO or Private Sale for De Volksbank

Reported about 1 year ago

The Dutch government has suggested that a private sale or initial public offering (IPO) are the preferred options for state-owned De Volksbank NV. Selling the bank to a new owner would involve fewer operational complexities, while an IPO would maintain the bank's independence but require an improvement in financial results. The Dutch investment vehicle NLFI, the government body that owns the bank, proposed against permanently keeping De Volksbank as a state bank, suggesting it become a cooperative bank or be managed by a foundation instead.
