Reported 11 months ago

As global warming escalates, various areas are experiencing record high temperatures in June. Meteorologist Lin De-en warns that places like the Greater Taipei basin, mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan, and the Hualien Valley may feel even hotter today. He notes that this June could potentially mark the 13th consecutive month of record-breaking high temperatures globally, impacting countries with heatwaves, droughts, and wildfires. Recent extreme heat events include Mecca exceeding 51.8 degrees Celsius, resulting in heat-related casualties. Taiwan is currently under a heatwave due to the Pacific high-pressure system, with temperatures exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in certain regions. Lin advises precautions like sunscreen and staying hydrated due to the scorching weather.
