Reported about 1 year ago
A report by iCHEF revealed that due to the decline in domestic tourism and the impact of the 403 Hualien Earthquake, the F&B industry in Hualien saw a 47% decline during the Dragon Boat Festival, while Taitung declined by 33%. Despite efforts to promote self-rescue promotions and discounts for the summer season, bookings for Hualien tours during the festival period dropped significantly compared to last year. Operators are advised to utilize government subsidies, iCHEF's zero monthly fee plan, and create multiple channels by opening an English online booking system to attract foreign tourists. The report also analyzed the performance of F&B industry nationwide, showing contrasting growth trends with Hualien experiencing growth initially but facing significant declines post-April due to various factors like the 403 earthquake. Efforts by local youth operators to collaborate across different sectors with bundled experiences have been dubbed as 'Contemporary Hualien,' aiming to revitalize the region post-disaster. Suggestions were made by iCHEF co-founder Cheng Kai-yu for operators to adapt strategies such as the zero monthly fee plan, online booking systems, and promoting summer packages with English booking options to appeal to international visitors.
