Eco-Friendly Lighting Design for Landmark: Monitoring Insect Activity and Using Special Lamps to Protect Ecology

Reported 8 months ago

After sunset, human activities rely on artificial lighting, but this disrupts wildlife habits, especially outdoor lights attracting insects, resulting in a pile of dead bugs the next day. To address this issue, a museum in Yilan, Taiwan, monitored insect activity for a year and developed eco-friendly lighting based on insects' attraction to specific light wavelengths. Another example in Hsinchu transformed streetlights into candle-like OLED lamps to avoid disturbing insects while ensuring safety. This showcases the importance of integrating lighting with ecology for both wildlife and humans.
