Following the retirement of Deputy Minister Lin Chuan-Neng on June 15, 2024, the vacant position has been approved by Premier Su Tseng-chang to be filled by the current Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Lien Chin-Chang. Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Chih-hui aims to leverage Lien's expertise in various industry and technology development roles to oversee cross-disciplinary tasks within the ministry, especially in areas such as promoting renewable energy, green energy trading, ensuring stable power supply, and assisting industries in transitioning to achieve zero net emissions by 2050. Lien, aged 61, has a background in forestry from National Taiwan University and has held various key positions within the ministry before this promotion.
