During a legislative session, Executive Yuan head Su Tseng-chang suggested that the electricity price policy for September is moving towards stability, hinting at no increase in electricity prices. When questioned about this, Economic Minister Guo Zhihui stated that he would consult with Su Tseng-chang and act accordingly. Opposition lawmakers inquired about whether the freeze in electricity prices would lead to Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) facing financial issues, but Guo reassured that Taipower would not go bankrupt and that efforts would be made to resolve financial problems. Taipower's general manager mentioned that further assessment was needed to determine whether Taipower would incur losses if electricity prices remained frozen. Guo also pledged to provide reports on electricity growth estimates and Taipower's financial situation before the end of the legislative term. Despite the previous electricity price hike in April, Taipower reported significant pre-tax losses, accumulating debts, and a high debt-to-asset ratio.
