Economic Weakness Constrains Mainland's Attack on Taiwan

Reported about 1 year ago

According to the Financial Times on June 16th, 2024, insiders revealed that during a meeting with the President of the European Commission, Xi Jinping stated that the U.S. was attempting to instigate an attack on Taiwan, but he would not fall for it. Xi denied having any plans for military action against Taiwan in 2027 or 2035 during a meeting with President Biden in November. The economic weakness of the mainland is a major constraint, with issues such as a slow recovery post-pandemic, a struggling real estate market, low consumer spending, and concerns of overproduction in sectors like electric vehicles and solar products. This economic downturn is affecting social stability and the ruling Communist Party's foundation.
