FTNN News Network reported on June 24, 2024, that due to an oversupply of eggs, prices have continued to decline, worsened by the recent heatwave affecting egg preservation. This has led to egg merchants selling at a loss, with prices dropping to as low as 27.5 yuan per kilogram, and reports of a 30-pound box of eggs selling for only 300 yuan, far below market prices. The Taipei Egg Merchants Guild chairman Lin Tianlai even forecasted further price reductions, stating that egg prices have already collapsed and may continue to do so until September.
