Egg Prices Drop after Oil Smuggling Exposed! Lawyer Reveals Profits of Local Egg Merchants and Urges Restaurant Industry to Reduce Prices Simultaneously

Reported 10 months ago

Recent reports show that domestic egg prices in Taiwan have been continuously decreasing, with prices reaching a 2-year low of NT$30.5 per kilogram after a reduction of NT$2 per kilogram from production areas starting on the 4th. Lawyer Lin Zhiqun pointed out that after an oil smuggling scandal, egg prices have been plummeting. Local egg merchants have been profiting significantly, urging the restaurant industry to also reduce prices. Despite recent price reductions, many consumers still feel prices should drop further. The Egg Merchants' Association stated that current prices are affecting farmers' costs and called for restaurants to reflect these price drops, allowing consumers to feel the difference.
