Egg Prices Drop in Taiwan, But Extra Egg Still Costs Additional NT$20 - Outrage from Diners Sparks Response from Egg Trade Association

Reported 11 months ago

In just two months, Taiwan's egg prices have dropped four times, with a significant decrease of NT$12 in farmgate prices. However, many diners are upset because despite the drop in egg prices, adding an extra egg to their meal still costs an additional NT$20. The oversupply of eggs has led to low prices, with the farmgate price dropping to NT$30.5 and wholesale prices decreasing to NT$40, the lowest in two years. Despite this, diners continue to pay the same extra price for eggs in their meals that they did before, prompting criticism online. The Taiwan Egg Trade Association has called on restaurants to lower egg prices in line with the market changes.
