As the holiday baking season approaches, egg prices are on the rise due to a continuing outbreak of bird flu, although they remain lower than the peak prices seen nearly two years ago. The American Egg Board reports that while some grocery stores may experience temporary shortages, these issues are being quickly resolved. The average price for a dozen eggs in October was $3.37, a significant increase from last year but down from earlier in 2023. The outbreak has affected cage-free egg supplies, particularly in states with strict regulations, and environmental factors are also contributing to supply challenges.
