In Taoyuan, a family surnamed Xiao, in an attempt to reduce raw material costs, recycled expired or spoiled eggs, some with worms, and mixed them into regular egg liquid for over 5 years before selling them to unsuspecting distributors. After trial, the Taoyuan court found the father sentenced to 2 years and 2 months, the son to 2 years and 4 months, and the mother to 2 years in prison for fraudulently earning 57,655,476 yuan, with the possibility of an appeal. The court determined that the family had been mixing these eggs with the egg liquid since 2016, and the case was exposed in 2018 after a search, leading to their prosecution and sentencing.
