A vendor surnamed Xiao from Taoyuan purchased cracked, moldy, and worm-infested eggs from chicken farmers at low prices, processed them into egg liquid, and sold them. The Taoyuan Bureau of Investigation received a tip and discovered that from 2013 to 2018, Xiao and his family earned nearly 58 million from these unethical practices. After trial, they were sentenced to 2 to 2.4 years in prison for fraud with the confiscated illegal gains. The court found that they had been selling egg liquid made from substandard eggs to 46 companies, with profits of approximately 57.65 million. The family denied the charges but were convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison, with the option to appeal.
