An elderly couple in their 80s in Tainan, who are known for hoarding items, had their home filled with clutter, totaling up to 20 tons of items. Concerned for their health, emergency personnel had to use a crane to rescue them due to the clutter blocking access. The local district office rallied nearly 100 volunteers, including students, to assist in clearing out the excessive items, aiding the couple in decluttering. The operation involved a relay of volunteers carrying out various bags of plastic and cardboard, stacking up high in the alley, eventually filling up multiple garbage trucks. Neighbors mentioned that the house was packed with trash and even the staircases were occupied by recyclables, making it difficult to move around. With the joint effort of the community, the cluttered residence was finally cleared out after a day, providing relief for both the elderly couple and neighbors.
