An elderly couple in Taoyuan planned to apply for a debit card to earn NT$5,000 per month as pocket money, believing the words of a scam group. Fortunately, bank staff became suspicious and reported the case while persuading the couple to give up on the application. The police intervened, revealing that the couple's children were abroad and they wanted to send spending money, contradicting the couple's initial claims. The police warned against trusting scam groups and advised not to give personal identification or financial cards to others to avoid legal consequences.
