Reported 9 months ago

On June 26, 2024, at 10:45 AM, according to TVBS News, as the government promotes energy-saving and carbon-reduction policies, the National Communications Commission (NCC) has decided to officially cease the 3G network on June 30. Taiwan Quality Life Association revealed that many elderly individuals living alone are unaware of the consequences of the 3G network shutdown, which will render their old phones unable to make calls, let alone emergency calls (such as 119, 110). In response, Chen Yalan, Vice Chairman of the Taiwan Quality Life Association, known for her dedication to public welfare efforts, is personally involved in producing promotional videos, urging the public and fans to join hands in collecting mobile phones for these seniors to make them feel the warmth of the society. The association's secretary-general, Ji Baoru, emphasized the importance of a functional phone for these seniors as a vital tool for communication and a lifeline that they lack due to the absence of companionship and assistance from family and friends. The collaboration with telecommunications companies will provide them with a sense of social care and support, helping them understand that they are not forgotten, and launching the 'Support Mobile Phones!' charity campaign.
