A 84-year-old man surnamed Zhuang in Changhua City drowned at a sports center yesterday while swimming, with rescue efforts managing to revive his heartbeat temporarily before declaring him dead after 5.5 hours. Witnesses at the scene reported that the man had a swollen abdomen, possibly due to ingesting a large amount of water. Despite initially responding with CPR and transporting him to the hospital, he passed away later in the evening. It was suspected that the man may have suffered a heart attack while in the pool. The incident unfolded with efforts initiated by both bystanders and rescuers, ultimately ending tragically for the elderly man.
