A 73-year-old man surnamed Huang in Taichung almost fell victim to a hair growth product scam after seeing an advertisement online and contacting the seller. The seller exaggerated the product's effectiveness and shared fake success stories of hair regrowth, prompting Huang to prepare to withdraw NT$1.09 million to purchase the product. Fortunately, bank staff noticed the unusual transaction and alerted the police. After investigating, the police found the seller's claims to be false, and the hair growth product had no legitimate product registration. The police remind consumers to verify information thoroughly before online purchases to avoid falling into such scams.
