Another escalator accident has occurred, this time in Tokyo, Japan, where an elderly woman in her 80s shopping in a supermarket got her neck caught between the escalator handrail and the floor, losing consciousness and eventually passing away despite medical treatment. The incident happened in a supermarket near Nishi-Tokyo, about 500 meters from Nishi-Fukuzumi Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. The woman seemed to have fallen from the escalator to the ground floor, with her clothing suspected to have been caught in the escalator, leading to the fatal neck entrapment. Authorities are investigating the details of the incident.
