On July 1, a 74-year-old woman was pushed onto the tracks of a moving BART train by a homeless man at the Powell Street Station in San Francisco, resulting in her death. The suspect, identified as Trevor Belmont, was arrested shortly after the incident. The victim, Corazon Dandan, an immigrant from the Philippines, was a retired hotel telephone operator who was heading home after work. Her nephew described her as a generous woman who helped family members with education costs. Belmont, who did not have a ticket, is facing charges of murder and harming an elderly person, with the motive still under investigation.
