Elderly Woman Scammed 12 Million in Investment Fraud, Hoping to Leave Savings for Grandchildren

A 79-year-old woman surnamed Li fell victim to a scam, losing a total of 12 million yuan to a fraudulent investment group led by a man claiming to be 'Xie Jinhe'. She was convinced to use her house as collateral for investments in stocks that promised high returns. After realizing she had been deceived when asked for more money to withdraw her supposed earnings, Li sought help from the police. With a successful trap set up with the police, a 55-year-old man surnamed Liu was caught on the spot. Sadly, Li's hopes of leaving savings for her grandchildren turned into a nightmare as she not only lost all her money but also accumulated a debt of 5 million yuan.
