Electric car owners are facing high costs to replace tyres due to the rapid degradation caused by the weight and torque of the vehicles. One owner of a Volkswagen ID.3 had to replace his tyres after just 7,500 miles, costing him over £300. The strain on electric vehicle tyres is attributed to the extra weight and torque, leading to premature wear. Manufacturers advise drivers to drive gently to prolong tyre life, and research shows that tyres fitted to EVs last fewer miles than those on petrol or diesel cars.
