Keelung police recently arrested a group of street racing enthusiasts and confiscated several modified vehicles, including electric cars retrofitted with gasoline engines. The illegal modification involved using scrapped electric car bodies combined with gasoline car engines, selling them for up to NT$250,000. Authorities warn that these modified vehicles pose dangers on the road, with one expert noting that assembled vehicles could potentially disintegrate while in use. The police crackdown also revealed the reckless behavior of these modified vehicle owners, including running red lights and speeding without helmets, impacting public safety and tranquility.
