In order to ensure domestic companies have access to green energy, Minister of Economic Affairs Guo Zhihui has directed Taiwan Power Company to consider implementing an 'electricity price tiering' system, categorizing electricity into green energy, low carbon, and general electricity, with prices set based on carbon emissions. This system, set to be in place as early as next year pending the approval of carbon fees by the Environmental Protection Administration, aims to meet the electricity demand by 2030. The proposal involves offering enterprises green or low carbon energy options at different pricing levels, with green energy priced at a minimum of NT$5.2, and low carbon energy prices linked to carbon fees to ensure economic feasibility.
