Reported 13 days ago

Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research and ex-girlfriend of Sam Bankman-Fried, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her role in the $8 billion fraud at the collapsed FTX cryptocurrency exchange. Despite her significant cooperation with prosecutors, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan emphasized the gravity of her involvement, labeling it one of the largest financial frauds in U.S. history. Ellison pleaded guilty to seven felony counts and testified against Bankman-Fried, who is currently serving a 25-year sentence.
