Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup, known as the father of rock 'n' roll, wrote the song 'That’s All Right' in 1946, which became Elvis Presley's first single. Despite being credited with inventing rock ‘n’ roll, Crudup received minimal songwriting royalties due to unfair recording contracts that funneled his earnings to his original manager. His exploitation as a Black artist highlights the injustices many musicians faced in the 20th century. Even after his death, Crudup's estate received some compensation, but it paled in comparison to what he deserved in his lifetime.
