Empowering the Elderly for a Fulfilling Third Life, Taichung Social Innovation Base Launches 'Elderly Empowerment Exploration Project'

Reported 8 months ago

On June 19, 2024, in the People's Daily at 12:59, the 'Elderly Empowerment Exploration Project' aids the elderly in re-entering the workforce, encouraging those aged 50 to 70 to plan their second life stage and venture into their third life phase. Taichung City Social Affairs Bureau and Taichung Social Innovation Experiment Base collaborate with the 104th Office of the Senior Executive Operating Department and the Elderly Education and Culture Association to organize the project, aiming to assist the elderly in rejoining the workforce. The base's resident teams actively invite the elderly to join, leveraging their wealth of work experience, professional knowledge, and life wisdom to bring a broader perspective to social innovation. Through the project's activities, over 100 participants engage in discussions on career transitions amidst labor shortages, evaluate their career paths, devise future plans, analyze personal styles, discover self-awareness, regain confidence and enthusiasm for work and life, ultimately finding the most suitable jobs and fulfilling their personal value. The project not only addresses labor shortages but also achieves individual self-worth. Additionally, the base's teams focus on elderly issues, with various projects like 'Quansuo Integrated Service Co., Ltd.' and 'Dici Market' employing retirees for first aid education and market professional tour guiding training, respectively. The virtual team 'BagAgency' targets workers over 50 for environmental conservation workshops, advocating for lifelong education. To support elderly employment, the Labor Bureau implements the 'Middle-Aged and Senior Workforce Reutilization Incentive Program,' hoping for collaborative efforts to create a friendly environment that supports the self-realization and value of this age group.
