Empowering Women to Care for Elderly Residents in Hualien's Xincheng Community

Reported 8 months ago

On June 16, 2024, at 7:41 am, Tzu Chi TV reported a group of grandmothers coming together to care for elderly residents in the community of Hualien. They utilized sign language taught by instructors to engage the seniors, fostering both physical and mental activity, resulting in brighter smiles amongst the elderly. Amidst the summer heat, they made refreshing fruit ice dumplings with the seniors. These women in Hualien's Xincheng Township designed fun courses and had heartwarming interactions with the elderly, aiming to spread love and joy through engaging activities. Volunteers from the Care Center, like Zhang Meihui and Jiao Leixia, incorporated seasonal fruits into the dishes, emphasizing both happy and healthy eating, demonstrating that simple homemade meals can be delicious and easy to swallow, benefiting the seniors' well-being. Encouraging the elderly to participate in community activities helps them stay active and potentially delay cognitive decline.
