The head of thematic research at PGIM, Shehriyar Antia, explains in an interview that the energy transition is a complex, long process with three key factors: affordability, reliability, and sustainability. Fossil fuels will remain relevant, but complementary infrastructure around renewable energy and greener forms of fossil fuels, like natural gas, offer investment opportunities. Antia also highlights that innovations such as hydrogen and carbon capture and storage, while promising, currently do not provide an attractive risk-reward proposition for investors in the energy sector.
