The Chiayi City Police Department has been receiving multiple reports from residents about disruptive noise caused by speeding vehicles during late hours. In response to this, they have collaborated with the City Government's Environmental Protection Bureau to crack down on illegally modified vehicles. Using sound-based photo technology, they are actively gathering data on noise levels of passing vehicles in reported areas, in violation of noise standards. Offenders face fines ranging from 1800 to 3600 NTD. Since June 2022, they have conducted 57 joint inspections, checking 1710 noise-violating vehicles and penalizing 48 offenders. In the first four months of 2023, they performed 68 inspections and fined 62 vehicles for excessive noise. Continued enforcement will target various roads to deter illegal noise modification, contributing to a quieter and safer urban environment.
