On July 1, 2024, Boeing announced that it has delivered the first CH-47F Block II helicopter to the US Army. The CH-47F Block II helicopter features improved flight performance, range, and fuel efficiency. With an open-system architecture design, it can easily integrate new technologies in the future, enhancing the US Army's rapid force projection capabilities. The upgraded CH-47F Block II helicopter has increased total weight by approximately 1800 kg but has seen enhancements in overall flight performance, maximum range, and engine fuel consumption. Additionally, operating costs are cheaper, and logistical maintenance is simpler. The US Army plans to upgrade all existing 465 CH-47 series helicopters to CH-47F Block II specifications for future heavy transport helicopter operations.
