Entering History! Funeral Parlor in Place for 60 Years to be Demolished This Morning, Future Site for Green Space and Parking Lot

Reported 8 months ago

Taipei City's first funeral parlor, in operation for nearly 60 years since the Republic of China's 54th year, is being officially demolished this morning due to the aging building and mismatch with the urban area. The space will be used as a parking lot and green space in the short term, with long-term plans under active consideration including options like a long-term care medical zone, commercial and residential buildings, social housing, and a sports center. The demolition process began on June 13th, with Mayor Chiang Wan-an leading the purification ceremony and plaque removal ceremony, in response to diverging opinions from local representatives about future land use.
