The controversy over three solid recovered fuel (SRF) power plants moving into the Taoyuan Science Park continues, with the Economic Minister expressing concerns about the environmental impact of foreign investments, while the Taoyuan City Mayor questions the amendments proposed by the Environmental Department, suspecting them to be tailored to benefit the new SRF plants in Taoyuan. The city government urges the department to ensure all SRF operators, new or existing, adhere to strict emission standards, reevaluate the purpose of the amendments, assess the feasibility and long-term effects of waste-to-energy fuels, and enhance waste management policies.
