On June 23, 2024, Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu visited Kaohsiung to address supporters and explain the third wave of parliamentary reform. Criticized by DPP Secretary-General Lin You-chang for allegedly collaborating with the CCP, Chu countered by accusing the DPP of changing positions and mindsets. The KMT and PFP jointly pushed a parliamentary reform bill, leading to recall movements from the green camp and civic groups. The KMT is reportedly considering amending the recall law to raise the threshold, while the People First Party has yet to make a decision on this. In response to criticisms, Taipei Mayor and PFP Chairman Ko Wen-je stressed prioritizing livelihood bills. As tensions rise between the blue and green camps, the DPP continues to criticize the KMT and PFP for creating internal unrest under the guise of reform, while approaches toward parliamentary reform vary among the parties, setting the stage for potential confrontations over constitutional interpretations, recalls, and major bill deliberations.
