In a supermarket in Nishitokyo City, Tokyo, an elderly woman was found lying near the handrail entrance of an escalator this morning, suspected of being crushed in the neck. Despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment, she was eventually pronounced dead. Authorities are investigating the incident. Escalators conceal unexpected risks, and caution should be taken when using them. Another similar fatal accident occurred in March at JR Mito Station in Ibaraki Prefecture when a 72-year-old man was found crushed by the escalator. The police urge the public to be more vigilant as escalators pose unforeseen dangers.
